Your Earth Engine connection

Every visitor signs in with their own Google account and supplies their own registered Earth Engine project. No shared instructor project is provided.

  1. Choose or create a Google Cloud project that you can use for Earth Engine. Copy its project ID, not its name or number.
  2. Enable the Earth Engine API and complete Earth Engine registration for that project. Your account must have permission to use the project and its services.
  3. Return to CropExplorer, enter the project ID and select Connect with Google. Choose the account that can access the project and grant Earth Engine read-only access.
  4. After the connection check succeeds, choose a location and dates, retrieve the environmental inputs, review them and run a crop experiment.

Your own Earth Engine quotas and any applicable Google usage charges apply. Noncommercial users should check their registration and eligibility with Google.

Google connections expire. Connect again when prompted. Sign out when finished; closing or reloading the page clears the in-memory token. Download results before leaving. Google handles your password; CropExplorer never asks you to enter it here.

Available models

AquaCrop and WOFOST run locally in your browser. APSIM and DSSAT are greyed out and labelled “Available in a future version”. No Python installation or paid computation server is required. Keep this tab open while running a model.

If connection fails

Check the project ID, Earth Engine registration, enabled API and your account’s project permissions. Allow Google sign-in popups. If your institution restricts third-party apps, ask its administrator to review access.
